Summary: Review how fractions can only be added and subtracted with common denominators, and how this applies to the overall unit.  Homework.

Thursday, January 5

Summary: Introduction to multiplying and dividing rational exponents, as well as continued work on reducing, factoring, and canceling.  Brief review on dividing fractions and how it relates to polynomials, and when those polynomials double up on fractions. 

Wednesday, January 4

Summary: Focus on factoring and simplifying equations, especially when you need to use the sum and difference of cubes/squares. Also today the concept of building denominators is introduced.  Also addresses on evaluating a function when using function notation. Practiced setting up functions based on word problems.  Homework.

Tuesday, January 3

Summary: Back from break!  Continue the unit on Domain and Range with interval notation.  Addressing the different algebra and arithmetic methods to factor and cancel equations.  Also a trick was shown in the notes to make the process smoother.  Homework.
